Viae grew up on a small coastal village of Marinae on Canceron. The village existed solely to support one of the larger resort towns, where dignitaries and wealthy families from all over the colonies would come for vacation. Viae's father was a fisherman, working hard to keep the exotic seafood flowing in, while Viae's mother was a schoolteacher, educating the children in the village so that one day, they too could get a job sucking up to the rich and famous. Viae was a quick study and did well, but her passion was more for the arts then the books. At an early age Viae would sing, and her parents had even put her through singing lessons, hoping to one day get her a job at one of the resorts, working on some of the famous shows they were known for. Viae grew to dislike the seperation between the different classes, and even more to dislike her parents' position of falling in line and doing what was expected of them.
By the time Viae was out of school, she'd had enough of living to serve. She'd enlisted with the Fleet, much to the chagrin of her parents. However, in time, they realized that it was for the best and supported her in the decision. While in training, Viae made friends easy, and fell in love even easier. The bright-eyed idealist fell hard, and often for the wrong person. After a few emotional bruises and scarring, she'd sworn off relationships altogether, knowing that she would quickly change her mind once she'd found someone who caught her eye. Viae did well during training, focusing on first aid and machine repair. She'd waved off an offer to go into the engineering field, and went into tactical. Her soothing voice lent to communications. Working with her mother as a child had given the young woman experience, and she'd begun to help the instructors with teaching the other recruits. After graduation, she'd been thrilled to have been assigned to the Cerberus and jumped at the chance to work on such an illustrious ship. Her only regret was not being home during Warday, and later hearing the news of the death of her parents, along with most of the planet, and on an even greater scale the colonies as a whole. Knowing that the Cylons were the enemy, Viae found it hard not to blame the rich and powerful of the colonies for bringing the destruction down on everyone. The Cylons were originally slaves for those who did not want to work, right? If laziness and snobiness didn't bring about the Cylons, then there would be no war, and no Warday. Viae just strengthens her resolve to keep up with her duties just the same. To keep her mind off of the despair, she sings and has recently given in to writing poetry, in an effort to write her own lyrics.
