Observation Deck

With a quiet view to the stars, this tends to be one of the more popular 'quiet areas' of the Cerberus. Up front is a small-unseated area for ceremonies or other activities while the seating rises up behind it. Each level rises up behind the one before it, comfortable chairs and couches set up for crewmembers to relax, get some work done or even take a nap. A large armored plate is lowered during Condition One to protect the interior against a breach in the glass.

Alexander is currently standing by the obs deck window with one arm holding himself up against the glass of the deck. Clearly, the man is watching the world go by as he is lost in thought as his breathing is slow and his eyes blink very slowly. There is a moment where the man with the tussled dirty blone hair takes a sudden breath and he breaks away from star gazing for a moment to gather his senses.

Freshly onboard, Sawyer quickly learns this is one of the few places she can be without someone jumping down her throat about security clearances. She slips into the room quietly, respecting the general relaxed atmosphere of the room by making sure the hatch gets closed quietly behind her. She's about to just take up a seat on one of the couches when she spots a familiar face up by the viewport. Well, he'd have to be familiar unless she lived under a rock for the past few years. Plans quickly change, and she stays on her feet, approaching the viewport. "Mister Aurelius?"

As Alexander hears his name spoken he turns around, "Dad?" He looks around the room for a moment and when he doesn't spot his Father in the room he looks at Sawyer, "Sorry, only person I know named Mister Aurelius is my Father." He then gives a slight grin as he studies Sawyer who looks utterly professional and he says, "I am Alexander Aurelius and you have me at a disadvantage?" He breaks from the viewport to move toward Saywer, "And you are?"

Sawyer extends her hand politely, "Sawyer Averies, Acropolis Monthly." To her credit, she's not completely star struck by the man but her smile is bright and honest. "May I call you Alexander, then?" The question mostly rhetorical as she just bulldozes right on through. First rule of Journalism, is don't accept answers that you don't want. "Sorry, Alexander, I don't mean to bother you during your relaxation time, I just find myself surprised to discover an actor of your caliber onboard for such a…mundane event."

Alexander shakes Sawyer's hand and he says, "Well, Miss or perhaps it is Misses, Sawyer Averies of Acropolis Monthly, it is a pleasure to meet you. I love Acropolis Monthly and I've had a subscription for two years." For his part Alexander is one of those celebrities who is aparently comfortable around reporters. He then answers the question posed to him with a bit of a teasing wink, "And you may call me Alexander since you did twice, already." He looks at the window, "Ah, well, I am here for research for my next role." It is true that the man is famous for methodically researching his roles. Alexander continues to look at Sawyer as he adds, "Acctually, truth be told I was just waiting for someone to be honest."

Sawyer doesn't have a pad of paper and a pen, nor a tape recorder shoved under his nose, but there's undoubtedly some mental note taking going on here. She reaches up to tuck a fringe of hair behind her ear, the silver hoop piercing her lobe glitering in the dim light with the movement. "Honesty I can do, but honesty about what, I wonder." Moving to the viewport, she leans against it with her shoulder, though her full attention is on him for the moment. "Acropolis Monthly thanks you for your patronage and loyalty." A practiced response for when someone says they read her magazine, but she delivers it in a believable fashion. "So this movie…" Ah yes, back to the meat of the conversation. "You're playing a military man? What's the basis?"

Alexander looks amused by the reporter and appreciative since he has spent his career around reporters of all sorts. Though as the practiced response comes out from Sawyer the actor tilts his head and smiles slightly, perhaps he spots a canned response or perhaps he has bought it. "As for honesty, at this time, all I can tell you is I am doing research here to play someone involved in the Military. I wish I could tell you more but just to be here I had to sign all sorts of NDA's." Alexander explains to Sawyer as he takes a moment to study Sawyer, "The question is what is a talented reporter such as yourself doing here?"

Sawyer's smile becomes a bit pinched. "More's the pity." Is the response to his comment about NDA's, nothing like running into a brick wall. But if she let that stop her, well. She wouldn't be the talented reporter he just touted her to be. "Tit for tat, Alex." A sly smirk touching her lips. "I was assigned something nice and safe for once. This is what we call a make up assignment. Where if I play nice, and write a nice fluff piece, they'll let me off probation and go back to getting grit stuck in my teeth. But you're here, which I have to admit is a pleasant surprise to this backwater assignment. So they have to have you playing something good. My bet is an officer, something you can really flex your charisma in. Command maybe?"

Alexander listens to Sawyer as she explains why she is here and he raises an eyebrow, "Ah, so you were on probation?" The actor says without missing a beat and he studies the woman intently, "Perhaps you angered someone or you wrote a report that your superiors didn't like?" Alexander muses as he studies Sawyer. When she mentions the Cerberus being backwater he looks around and says to Sawyer, "If I am here this can't be too backwater, can it?" Whenn she mentions his role he says nothing but he merely puts an index finger to his nose and nothing more, tit for tat.

"Now now, a girl has to keep her mysteries. I'm sure a man such as yourself can appreciate that." Sawyer merely remains in her casual lean, content to remain skirting the issues as long as they are still near the issue, that is. She continues subtly directing the conversation, moving from one angle to the next. "How long are you onboard for? Through the entire duration of the games?"

"We all have to keep our mysteries." Alexander says as he breaks his study of Sawyer, "And yes, I can appreciate that fact. Though as an actor my job is to learn what mysteries people hold." He then smiles at Sawyer and says teasingly, "Luckily for you I am not a woman so your mysteries are safe for now." The actor then looks out of the view port window for a moment, "I'm not sure really, I am here to serve as the QUODEL Goodwill Ambassador as well so I suppose until I complete my research or until QUODEL decides to take me back to Caprica."

Sawyer finally straightens away from the viewport, never once having really taken advantage of the starscape just on the otherside of the thick material. Clearly a girl knows when a lead has dried up, and soon it'll turn into beating a dead horse. "Looks like we'll be seeing more of each other, then." Yes, it's apparent she'll be with the Quorum contingency as well. A media pass will get you such fantastic places. "Thank you for your time, Alex." How quickly Mister Aurelius became Alexander and Alexander became Alex.
Alexander looks at the stars for a moment as well, "Would you like to watch the stars with me for a moment?" He asks the reporter curiously, "To be honest, sometimes my fame gets in the way of sharing small moments with people." He says almost with a bit of sadness behind it as he looks over at Sawyer, "Fantasy versus reality and all of that." He looks out at the stars, "And I never get to see the stars, not like this, back on Caprica I never got to see them so well. Though back on Aerilon I could see them beautifully as well." He doesn't seem to miss, then again he doesn't seem bothered by it, as Sawyer names him three times over.

"Love to, unfortunately I still have to settle in before I can afford much personal time." A pause, "Thank you. For the offer, I mean." Sawyer actually seems genuinely tempted, but who wouldn't be when faced with Alexander Aurelius who's had women swooning at the sight of him on screen for years. And here he is in the flesh. "Have a good evening, though. Maybe next time."

Alexander gives a smile to Sawyer, "Take care then and I look forward to reading your next article." He adds, "It would be nice to see you back into form." Hrm, perhaps he really does read Sawyer's articles. "And don't let me keep you. I am sure we will see each other around again." He says with a bit of humor since the civilian population on this ship is tiny.
