Important Notice about Canon Material
Material from the television program Caprica is NOT automatically considered canon, although players may adopt individual bits and pieces from what's depicted on Caprica into the regional cultural background of their character(s). When in doubt, please ask.

To avoid contradictions in established RP, a policy of "localization" has been adopted. Apart from the Staff-written Overview and items firmly established in the main BSG series, there should be no all-encompassing tidbits for any of the Twelve Colonies. Players are wholeheartedly encouraged to create regional write-ups. Those seeking to deviate from the general "flavor" of the Overview should first consult with Staff.

Overview

Scorpia is small and unbearably warm, thanks to its dense atmosphere and sprawling jungles. Those humans who live there have understandably gravitated towards massive isolated cities, though a sizable contingent of tree-huggers have moved to the planet's less developed regions to get closer to nature. The local flora and fauna have ensured that such experiments generally do not last very long at all. Far more important than what's on Scorpia, however, is what's above it: the Scorpian Fleet Shipyards, the largest manufacturing yards in all the Twelve Colonies and the primary driver of the Scorpian economy. Scorpians themselves are reputed to be an opinionated and hot-tempered lot, and among them can be counted many of the Colonies' foremost satirists, essayists, and all-around gadflies.

Regions

Players are encouraged to add their own write-ups. If you'd like to add to something already listed, please speak with the player who created the region.

Bandundu Province

(OOC: Bia's player, here. My placenames for Bandundu are cribbed straight from The Congo, and I'm trying to evoke a bit of a Southern/Cajun feel with the region.)

One of the many lush regions of Scorpia, the swamp- and jungle-filled Bandundu borders the ocean on one side.

Locations of Note

  • Mwanga — Capital of Bandundu, Mwanga is a sprawling and lazy port city at the mouth of the Mwene River delta. (Think: New Orleans.) Locations of note within Mwanga include:
    • U of M: University of Mwanga.
    • University of Bandundu, Mwanda School of Medicine.
    • Artemis the Protector Children's Hospital.
  • Lusambo Jungle — Locations of note within Lusambo Jungle include:
    • Lubutu, a small utilitarian city based around Fort Lubutu, a military base devoted primarily to pharmaceutical research.
    • Domiongo Jungle. A remote and relatively-untouched swath of land, Domiongo Jungle recently became newsworthy after both civilian and military pharmaceutical contractors attempted to claim large parts of it for their own research.
