Memoir: Anya.

A small and well-loved polaroid photo, deeply creased down the middle, the protective film peeling away from the edges of the photo in several spots. A young woman stands in a yard or a garden of some sort, holding some manner of small animal (a cat? a rabbit?) in slim arms. She's dark-eyed and staring sombrely out at the camera, her dark hair pulled into two long pigtails resting across her collarbones. An illegible signature is drawn in the bottom corner with blue ink, and a spiral has been smudged across the girl's face in what looks to be dried blood.
