Enlisted Marine Berths - Deck 6 - Battlestar Cerberus |
---|
Designed specifically to house a small Marine contingent, this berthing is one of the smallest on the ship. The bunks are arranged in standard formation in the classic over-under configuration and lockers dividing each one. However, the lockers here are a bit larger than most elsewhere on the ship to accommodate the bulky combat gear associated with the security details of the crew that lives here. Tables are spread out for use through the area with their standard allotment of chairs. |
Post-Holocaust Day: #367 |
She's been pretty reclusive since that whole running into Marrus thing awkwardly and then not knowing where things stand with them - yeah things got real awkward. Though Lilith has that hard exterior up as always, never really letting people in. It's not her style.
Sighing, the little woman pushes herself off the bunk and stretches her arms. Pulling on her boots, lacing them up tight and then jumping up and down a few times. She's just getting ready to leave the room, Lilith's eyes carry a certain tired look to them, she hasn't been sleeping again. Getting ready to come through the door, she begins to grab the long dark mane that is her hair, all the way down to her waist now. Lil prepares to bull it into a messy bun, a few strands hanging in her face.
The bun hair-style, popular among at least some of the Marines, one in particular. That particular marine, in fact, is just entering the enlisted bunks. It's a near collision as the two women practically run into each other! Her hair, for its part, is pulled back into the same tight vertical bun at the back of her head, hair swept around and pulled back. There's a brief moment of recognition as Madilyn looks over the much younger brunette. "You know, you can have that fixed up by many members of the crew," Madilyn states, referring to the unusually-long nature of her hair.
"But then when a headbanger comes on," Lilith lets her hair loose and backs away as she begins whipping her hair back and forth for a few moments before stopping with a light grin, "What would I whip around?" feigning an innocent face, Lili takes the time to wrap that long hair into a bun, this one tighter but a few strands are still left to hang in her face.
One green eye and the other brown study the woman in front of her. "Happy to see me back?" she asks with a tilt of her head, gentle smile crossing her lips as she puts her hands behind her back, Lilith tries her best to show respect to the officers. Always.
"Only if you're still confident you can remember and enforce the CCMJ." Madilyn once again seems to be referring to the hair, combined with the extended 'off-time' of recovery, and the responsibilities of the job. "Are you one hundred-percent sure you're ready, really ready, to return to active duty?" There's a hint of concern in her voice, and maybe, just maybe, she's not referring to the unkempt appearance but to the baggy, puffy eyes.
"I'm positive." Lilith says with a brief nod, one eye closing as she studies the blonde woman. "If it'll make you happy, I'll cut it a little shorter." She promises, holding up a hand the arm covered with tataus showing under the light. "No breaking promises." Something Madilyn would already know though.
"It's just gonna take a while to get back in the swing of things. Nothing to worry about though." The shorter woman assures her. Taking the time to crack her knuckles, she stares in Madilyn's eyes. "How are things?"
"How are things?" Madilyn replies, looking a little taken aback. Surprised, a bit, but not angry for the most part. "They're acceptable, but it would be a waste of duty time to bother anyone else with them." There's a very clear separation between personal matters and duty matters for her, and maybe that's something that's helped her through these times. "I didn't come for a social call, I'll remind you." The duty uniform should've done that already.
"Nobody does anymore." Lilith sighs softly and then she's looking over Madilyn's shoulder towards the door. "So, we all done here then?" A simple question for the older woman. "I have a punching bag with my name on it." A dangerous twinkle in her eye. "I'm in tiptop shape, my head is screwed on right. I'm not having delusions of Cylons on board trying to kill us. So, I'm pretty sure I'm good." One hand goes to a hip, "Peachy," she says in a deadpan, eyebrows raised.
"I'll ask again…are you sure? Have you been able to readjust to sleeping in the bunks, rather than the recovery room?" Madilyn standing in the doorway will make it quite difficult for the other marine to simply leave on the conversation and flee to the gym, however. "Were you crying? Or simply unable to find sleep last night?" the older woman finally asks.
"I've had insomnia for years," Lilith comments and stares at Madilyn. "I'm sure I'm okay, there isn't anything wrong." She's not here on a social call, which means Lil isn't about to throw her stinking laundry all over her head. "Do you want me back on duty?" Lilith folds her arms, gaze curious. "I said I'm fine. If I wasn't. I'd be sitting pretty in the recovery room munching on grapes and throwing seeds at the docs." A true statement, she likes to play pranks sometimes this one. "Relax, there's nothing to worry about."
The last part of the woman's statement draws a slight smirk and chuckle from Madilyn. Oh, if only you know how outrageously false that statement is! "I assume you've made yourself familiar with the members of your new team then, if you're so eager to get back on duty? As it stands, one of them has been working on an assignment for some time, and you're in line to help him. It's actually quite fortunate that you're returning right now, as we need some new faces for this particular piece of the puzzle."
"Haven't gotten around to it," Lilith replies back quickly and cants her head at the blonde. "Well, what's the puzzle?" A new assignment could be pretty awesome right now, something to take her mind off of Marrus. She needs to get her head in the game. The dark haired woman brushes the loose strand of hair behind her ear as she listens, a knowing look on her face. "Don't get shot in the face, I need this."
"You're going to assist Lance Corporal Kincaid in his investigations. He's nearly completed putting the pieces of a strange puzzle together involving the civilian element of our fleet. The reason we need fresh faces is that we fear there may be informants, collusion, or other unsavory and illegal interactions between the military and civilian elements. Since you've been laid-up, I have confidence you're not involved." Long story short? Get fresh faces in there that nobody could've bribed, and continue the investigation.
"Sounds wickedly delicious," comes from Lilith and she rocks back on the balls of her feet. "I'd be happy to help out with this. Kincaid." She'll have to meet him soon if they're working together.
"He has more of the details, and will be able to brief you more specifically on our intentions and plans to resolve this situation." One situation among many, but this one could put out a big fire. "I'm not sure wickedly delicious is an appropriate way to describe a scenario involving the beating and attempted homicide of civilians, in addition to whatever other shady dealings one particular subversive man on Elpis has attributed himself," Madilyn comments with every bit of that Caprican moral high-road shining through.
"I'll get right on talking to him," now she's making a beeline for the doorway. With Madilyn in the way she stops and smiles at the older blonde. "All a matter of preference, I'd say." That dangerous glint in her eyes from years of hard living on Tauron. "The chance to do some good, it's always wicked." That sounds so backwards but you know what she means.
"Very good. Make sure you meet with Lance Corporal Kincaid as soon as you can. In addition to working with him on this, you're also being placed in his fire team. It's good to get a rapport started quickly." Madilyn seems ready to move out of the way of the door, but before she does so, she offers one final comment. "If you're troubled by something, there are resources available to help, as a reminder." Then, and only then, Madilyn steps aside, nodding to dismiss the enlisted.
"I'll talk to the head people if I need it, but you'll be the first to know if something is amiss in this brain." She taps her forehead and then she's moving through the doorway. "Have a good day." She calls over her shoulder as she walks at a leisurely pace, whistling with her head tilted back towards the ceiling. Lilith has left the building.
