"One who understands much displays a greater simplicity of character than one who understands little."
— Alexander Chase
All southern Aerilonian charm, Miss Ginny Juniper Wells is an artisan of some renown and no small amount of skill. Stylish but not the least bit pretentious, she's reputed to be something of a make-over maven, knowing the positive power of a flattering outfit, a cute haircut, and a pleasant perfume — talents she shares with scarred patients in Sickbay.
At the age of 17, Ginny became apprenticed to master textile artist Harold Farthing. Since being rescued by the BSG-132, she continues to practice her craft as much as supplies permit. In exchange for working as a stylist for the venue and its dancers, she's managed to acquire a small amount of atelier space at Colonial Pete's. Furthermore, her services are also available to the general populace.

Curriculum Vitae
Apart from the standard reading, writing, and arithmetic, the Thales education system offered little more in the ways of academics than cultural studies and earth sciences, and this limited curriculum was taught in both Colonial Standard and the local Aerilonian dialect. For the most part, the youth primarily trained to learn a trade, and Ginny was no different.
At the age of 17, Ginny became apprenticed to Master Harold Farthing, who saw something special in the handmade garments that she was wearing at the Artisans' Fair. Under his tutelage, her prodigious talent was transformed into expansive skill.

Immediate FamilyBy Aerilonian standards, Ginny comes from a rather small immediate family. Of the three children, she is the youngest and the only girl. Her mother died during childbirth, and her father never remarried. Growing-up, it was her father's sister, Myrtle, who was her primary female role model. Extended FamilyAt the time of Warday, a few of her 50 or so cousins were enlisted in the Colonial military. It remains unknown how many of them may have survived, but it's possible that people who once served with her kin can be found in the BSG-132. One of her cousins — Beauregard W. Burke — was among the refugees rescued from Aerilon. Having answered the CVW-14's call for recruits, he now is a rook Viper pilot in the VF-154 "Black Knights". Adoptive FamilyAfter so many years together, Master Harold Farthing has been adopted as an uncle of sorts, even if she still addresses him as 'Mastah Harold'. |

Personal Profile
"For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge you'll never walk alone."
— Sam Levenson, excerpt from "Time Tested Beauty Tips"
Physical Features
There is something luminous about this young woman that goes beyond the fairness of her skin, the warmth of her brown eyes, and the mellifluous drawl of her voice. None-too-tall, she is svelte as a sylph, airy yet animated in her gestures, and possessing the poise of someone comfortable with herself and her role in the cosmos. Honey blonde in color and healthy in sheen, her hair is worn in a pixie-cut that flatters the slightly elfin features of her face, which are further enhanced by the artful application of cosmetics. Elegant and expressive are her hands, with flawlessly manicured short nails contrasting the calluses on her fingers that are marks of her training and trade.
There is no mistaking that she has an exceptional sense of style and a keen understanding of color, texture, patterns, structure and silhouettes. Whatever she wears is exquisitely tailored but not the least bit pretentious. Even her most avant-garde outfits are always tasteful, while the more classic designs are never dull. This highly evolved aesthetic insight extends to her use of accessories and the subtle fragrances that linger in her wake. Truly, though, her greatest adornments are her welcoming smile and winsome temperament.
"The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions — the little, soon-forgotten charities of a kiss, a smile, a kind look, a heartfelt compliment in the disguise of a playful raillery, and the countless other infinitesimals of pleasurable thought and genial feeling."
— Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Other Details
Quirks
- Dyslexic Bookworm: Ginny loves stories of all kinds. As an extension, she loves to read. Unfortunately, she often has some difficulty doing so. Coming from a strongly oral culture, her dyslexia never caused her much of a problem, and it remains undiagnosed.
- Keen Senses: Ginny possesses a highly refined sensory palate capable of distinguishing nuances in color, texture, tone, form, composition, smell, and even taste. For example, she can recognize a person's scent and how certain compounds smell when reacting to their unique body chemistry. After all, a perfume may smell one way in a bottle, another way when worn on a person, and yet another way when worn by someone else. (Aromatics are so interesting that way.)
- Stylish: With her sense of aesthetics and natural creativity, Ginny is incredibly stylish, running the gamut of inspirations.
- Tactile-oriented: Thalesians are somewhat notorious for touching people on the arm, patting hands, and all around engaging in amiable physical contact in social situations. Ginny is no different. She also has a habit of touching things to enjoy the sense of texture.
Skills of Note
Action Skills
- Alertness: As noted in her Keen Senses quirk, Ginny possesses a highly refined sensory palate capable of distinguishing nuances in color, texture, tone, form, smell, and even taste. She's also capable of quickly picking up on social clues and has a knack for reading body language. Overall, this skill reflects her ability to notice subtleties that most people overlook.
- First Aid: Standard stuff taught in primary and secondary school that was put into practice after Warday.
- Instruction: Part of being an apprentice is learning how to teach, especially in a culture with a strong oral tradition.
- Repair: This is pretty much limited to mechanical devices.
Background Skills
- Cosmetology: Largely learned from her Auntie Myrtle, who sought to teach her since she was but a wee girl, Ginny knows the finer points of creating and maintaining a lovely appearance. Skin treatments, haircare, manicure, pedicures, and so on and so forth. Coupled with Herbalism, this extends to the creation as well as the application of cosmetics and fragrances.
- Craftwork: Beauty for beauty's sake is perfectly fine, but something pretty that's also practical is even better. Add some leatherworking to textiles and you get some really cute shoes and bags. Keepsake boxes and jewelry can be made out of wood, metal, beads, and stones. Never underestimate the power of objet d'art or awesome accessories.
- Herbalism: Another skill that was part and parcel of the Thales school system, further trained post-Warday. Beyond standard homebrew remedies, Ginny has a great love of fragrances and aromatherapy, and most of the herbalist work she does centers around that. Coupled with Cosmetology, she also can make some semblance of organic cosmetics.
- Horticulture: Yet another skill taught in the Thales school system. Ginny primarily concerns herself with cultivating plants and flowers to create fabric dyes, cosmetics, fragrances, and run-of-the-mill herbal remedies.
- Lore: A pretty catch-all skill covering mythology, epics, folklore, legends, and so on and so forth, including some non-scripture tales said to date back to Kobol (although it's certainly Staff's call if any of them are actually true). Also encompasses things like symbolism; the language of flowers; 'properties' of metals, gemstones, woods, etc.
- Textile Arts: Indoctrinated by her kin since early childhood and further trained in primary and secondary school, Ginny's extremely well-versed in all aspects of the textile arts, which is no small feat seeing how the textile arts are vast and that most people tend to specialized in an area. Having apprenticed with Master Harold Farthing for a solid 5 years, her prodigious talent flourished. Make no mistake, she is exceptionally accomplished, especially for someone her age.
