Born February 21, 2015, Isabella Phoebe Gallagher was born on Aquaria to Forest and Rainy Gallagher, the youngest child of five and the only daughter. Forest, her father, was a JAG officer in the navy, while her mother, Rainy, was an electrical engineer for a construction company. The seaside city of Avenant, in the province of Sgal, is where the family lived and, thus, where Isabella grew up.
With Forest being a JAG officer, he was away quite often, thus leaving Rainy to do most of the taking care of Isabella. This proved no easy task, as Isabella proved to be quite a wild child. She was often running about, getting out of her mother’s grasp and causing more havoc than was often necessary. In her earliest years, Isabella was often taken to work with her mother, which became too much of a burden. When she became old enough, she was then placed in a daycare, much to her mother’s relief.
As she grew older, she started to have more and more of an interest in her mothers work as an electrical engineer, and often asked her mother multitudes of questions about her area of expertise. As she got older, Isabella spent more and more time with her mother in the workshop that had been set up at home. Outside of school and friends and general fun (and not to mention shopping), she spent any extra spare time in her mother’s workshop and learning about electronics. It became a sort of hobby for her.
Soon enough, it was time for her to decide which university she wanted to go to, and what she wanted to do with her life. It was quite evident, to both her and her parents, that she would choose electrical engineering for her career. Her father, though, made quite a few arguments to her joining the military. Paramount amongst his arguments being that they would pay for the entirety of her education, with her only having to dedicate herself to no more than five years of service. It didn’t take long for Isabella to figure out that joining the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps was the way to go. After all, it WAS a full scholarship to university that she’d be getting.
It took her four years of study, and a bit of basic training thrown in, but finally, the vivacious twenty-two year old graduated with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. From Aquaria, she was shipped off to Picon for assignment. After a couple weeks on a base, running drills, she was finally assigned to an older class flak frigate. It was by no means a fancy assignment, but it was work, and she was learning about tons of different systems first hand, including the DRADIS systems, and electrical systems in the fleet in general.
This tour of duty took Isabella all over the place, including Saggitaron and Tauron, where she and the rest of the crew were commissioned to help navy and marines to repair replace various pieces of equipment. This assignment lasted her a good few years. When the Battlestar Cerberus was finally completed, however, she was amongst one of many who were transferred to the ship to act as its new and first ever crew.
After winning the war games, Isabella was more then enthralled to be a part of one of the most amazing ships in the fleet. Her excitement would soon come crashing down, however, with the attacks by the Cylons on what became known as ‘Warday’. For all she knew, everyone that she was a friend with outside of the military, and her entire family, was dead. That is, unless, her father was on a ship somewhere, working with the JAG office. She could only hope, however.
For the first few months, she immersed herself in her work, preferring that to having to deal with reality. But, after a while, and with the help of some fellow crewmates, she began to socialize again, and eventually regained the vivaciousness that she had lost. While she’s still working on it, she tries to be chipper as much as possible.
