PHD #419: For All Of Us
For All of Us
Summary: Just another day in the brig. Sawyer and Shiner wait it out, while Sofia comes to visit.

Main Brig - Deck 6 - Battlestar Cerberus
Tiny and cramped, the Main Brig seems designed to be claustrophobic. The steel bars lining the three cells have been set into the steel bulkheads on each side. Inside each cell is a stainless steel toilet and a bunk that might be too short for some of the taller crewmembers. The dreary conditions don't seem to be helped by the presence of a Marine guard who is there twenty-four hours a day, as long as a prisoner is in custody. The whole room is under surveillance via camera system in the Security Hub and every visitor must sign-in and abide by the rules.
Post-Holocaust Day: #419

Sawyer is back once more in a cell. By now, she should be an old hat at this game of waiting around until someone on the outside has need of something from her. So far, the wait is the part that wears the most, with little to occupy her time once you've counted the bars of the cell or the rivets of the bulkhead. Right now, she's sitting on the little bunk, picking at her split ends and frowning at the need for a haircut.

Shiner yawns widely, rolling over on his bunk and fortunately stopping himself just before he actually rolls over onto the floor. Unshaven, although with stubble that could only be described as really wanting to be a beard and failing, the nugget wrinkles his nose and cracks open his eyes. Yep. Still in porridge. No change there, then. But the view's certainly improved, which he's keen to acknowledge with a cracked wolf-whistle.

"I thought that was you." Sawyer remarks dryly, clearly thinking she's nothing to whistle at, dressed as she is in Fleet issued sweats. And stocking feet. What do they have against shoes? "What did you do? Ask the wrong girl out to enjoy the wrong kind of liquid?"

"Mmmff, something like that," Shiner agrees, shifting to sit up with his bare feet padding to the floor. He musses his hair, wiping his face with one hand. "Wrong place, wrong time, if you'd believe it? I mean, how was I supposed to know she was /sabotaging/ the place?"

"I'm sorry I don't…um.." Sawyer shakes her head with a little laugh. "I don't really know what you're talking about. When shit sort of hit the fan…yeah. Well. Let's just say I was gone for awhile. Not really how I expected to end up when we got back, but I suppose I can't blame them." The journalist pushes her hair behind her ears with a sweep of both hands. "So what happened? You get knicked for being a traitor?"

Rapraprap. Sofia's not under arrest, but there's announcement of a visitor. "Um. Hi? Everyone awake?" She … cranes around. "I'd hate to get patted down for nothing," Sofia does not like being patted down. Eventually she moves into the little area before the cells.

"Yeah, pretty much," Shiner agrees, shrugging his shoulders as if to say 'what can you do?'. "But hey, chicks dig the whole 'bad guy' vibe, right? What are you in for, anyway?" And then there's a Sofia, and his attention is immediately drawn to BOOBS. "Sofa! Come to bust us out, yeah?"

"But you aren't, right? That'll be cleared up and you can get on your way?" Sawyer asks Shiner from cell to cell. "Too bad you haven't fully busked up to pilot. I hear the officer's have a nicer brig." As they seem to be getting a visitor, the journalist finds a polite smile for Sofia. "Hey Sofia."

Sofia blinks. "Shiner?" She's not surprised he's looking at her boobs - it's really just a fact of life that people are going to look and all. She smiles sadly. "I wish. I will keep my eyes and ears out though," She nods. "I- was on deck the other night," Sofia admits. "And the officer's brig - I guess that depends. A cage with bars of gold is still, well, a cage I hope you're holding up ok?" She smiles back at Sawyer.

"If I was a pilot I wouldn't be here in the first place," Shiner grumps, then shrugs, shaking it off and offering an amiable smile. "Sof, can you do me a massive favour? You've got to find Sticks for me and tell her I'm stuck in here and that's totally why I haven't caught up with her since the other night, okay? That close. I was /that close/," he turns to repeat to Sawyer. "She was in my bunk and everything. I'm totally winning her over."

Sawyer smirks despite herself, "If you were that close, maybe you shouldn't have been messing around with saboteurs? Just saying." There's a huff of breath that threatens to come out as a sigh. "I'm fine, really. I just wish they'd either set me free, interrogate me, or put me in front of the firing squad. But then again, I'm told I need to learn patience. Hell of a thing what that marine did to the Eleven. I was just waiting for it to be my turn to be curbstomped. Again, not that I blame them."

Sofia looks sympathetic. She smiles faintly. "I'll do my best to find her. I've been fairly busy though. Lots of people need metal and tools after all the mayhem," She admits. "I try not to think about … stuff too much," Her voice is unsteady a moment. She looks to Sawyer. "Yeah, I felt kind of bad for her. I'm glad she was not awake for that," She admits quietly. "Look, no matter how angry someone makes you - that doesn't give someone carte blanche to abuse the person who made them angry," She shakes her head. "I am glad to see you guys," Even Eleven from the sound of it. "Then I was sad because of what happened next. It's kind of whacky," She looks conflicted. She pauses and takes a deep breath. "I think things are slow because a lot is still being sorted."

Shiner wrinkles his nose, running a hand through his hair. "I did mention she was hot, right? And when a hot chick flutters her eyelashes and asks you to lend a hand? Well, sure, a guy's going to lend a hand. It's only natural. If you'd asked for a hand and flashed a bit of boob, I'd totally have done it for you, too. And I didn't /know/ it was sabotage, okay?"

"I'm glad to be home. And as much as I wish it were under better circumstances, as long as I can deliver my message and a few people listen? The rest doesn't matter any more. I don't matter any more. I just wish I had your boobs, Sofia, or this sabateur's looks. Then maybe more would listen, right?" Sawyer quips.

Sofia looks pained. "Shiner… the last guy who said that same thing was with a skinjob. They um, they - well, I'm sure you can guess what happened," She seems uneasy. "I think. I dunno, I bet that they were lying for just good gossip." She sighs. "I'm gonna worry about you guys," Sofia admits. Then she goes red. "I - On one hand, they notice me. On the other, they might not take me seriously because hey, tits. Still…" She /sounds/ sympathetic. "I-" She just can't openly admit to sympathy. "Was pretty excited when I saw that message from Gemanon," She fidgets. "Do you want a book or anything when I come by again?"

Shiner tells Sofia solemnly, "I'll have you know that I take tits /very/ seriously. And hey, Scoop, you've totally got awesome legs. Flash those around some more, I totally wouldn't complain. They're like the best pins on board, no lie."

"Then you should be even more excited to hear that's where we were. Gemenon." Sawyer exhales, looking to the ceiling as she steeples a hand to her forehead. "And they won't let me accept any books or smokes or…I'm surprised they didn't tackle you for just trying to talk to me. But thanks for the offer.

Sofia stifles a giggle and smiles at Shiner. "Thanks, I think. Funny I joined up so I could save money and have insurance for reduction surgery when I was done. Well, that's out the window now…" Not like medical would pull an engineer out of work for at least a month and waste all those supplies. "Scoop is really pretty. And yeah?" She tilts her head. "Whaaaat? Seriously," She pouts. "Well, shoot." Sounds like she was going to bring some by. "And nah, they just patted me down pretty well." She glances over her shoulder. "Besides, you forget whose locker got set on fire -" For this kind of thing. A resigned shrug. "Well, y'know." She just shakes her head. "Anyway, I'm glad you're not hurt. Did you want to ask me anything? It's been kinda whacky."

"I got the majority of the summary from one of the Military Police who brought me my breakfast. I know that the marines stormed the Areion, the Department Heads were freed. The Areion jumped away with Riederer at the helm. And thus endeth Rudy's insane reign of terror." Sawyer rewets her lips, "And I know about Allan, but that I learned about days ago. Seems like years."

There's a look of sadness at the mention of Rejn's fate that day. She nods slowly. "Yeah… we were all really shocked. I can't believe he'd do something like that. I still feel like a giant frakker for helping install stuff here," She looks guilty. "I'm so sorry." She shakes her head. "It does feel like a long time. I took some extra hours, so I keep busy." She can't even manage a smile. "Kinda sad I guess. I wish I could bring something by. I can visit at least. I was just worried about everyone," She tilts her head.

There is a small shrug from the Journalist. "In the end, he helped humanity, which is all I could hope for out of a friend. At first I felt betrayed but the end…the end is what matters. I'm told he betrayed his own model to do so. There's nothing to be sorry for, Sofia. Just help me spread the word? There are those amongst the skinjobs that would see this reach a peaceful end. For all of us."

Sofia smiles and nods. "It … was really brave of him," She seems to agree. "He helped us a lot, even if -" Well, y'know. "I'll do my best and see what I can do." She takes a deep breath. "I think I'd like peace after all this." She pauses. "Be well then. I think visiting hour's about done." Frown.

"We'll find a new home. We'll find our peace. If people…well. If people will listen. G'night Sofia. Thanks for stopping by." Sawyer doesn't bother to get up from her seat on the bunk, covering her eyes with her hand again once Sofia steps away.

"Yeah," Sofia agrees quietly. Hope. She takes a deep breath and steps away. She'll let herself get lead out. "Be well," She murmurs. She's gone after that.
