Ensign Barra was a career bureaucrat who joined the Fleet later in life on a booze-influenced dare following a messy divorce. His parents never particularly cared for his unglamorous civilian career in the first place and certainly do not approve of his new position. He's very seldom seen his son for the last year and a half or so, and, when he has, he's had to see his ex-wife as well, so, yeah, that hasn't been great.

Physical Features

Detwin Barra is a dark-complected man with deep brown eyes and shortish black hair, beard and moustache. He is of fairly typical height, somewhat shorter than six feet tall, and possesses a build that seems to skirt as close to sloppily overweight as military regulations allow. He smiles easily enough and has no visible scars, tattoos, or other easily distinguishing marks.

• Studied law, as every good stereotypical Libran citizen should, but never practiced as a lawyer. He has kind of a suspicion that he would have been a lousy one anyway.
• Has an old drinking buddy around his age somewhere in the Fleet who joined up at the same time he did (roughly June - August 2038). It just seemed like a good idea, and they both survived it.
