RE: Slave Rescue Operation


INCIDENT SUMMARY

At 1933hrs ship time, a radio intercept was made by a Raptor. The caller, keyed on Colonial Emergency Band, claimed to be held by slavers in the general vicinity of Corbreath. The Raptor was able to pinpoint the location via direction finding gear. LT Vandenberg assembled a team of five other Marines including LTJG Lunair and SSGT Crowe to investigate.

Using night vision gear, the squad approached the ville under cover of darkness. LT Vandenberg ordered SSGT Crowe to flank to a ridgeline that overlooked the grouping of tents and buildings. On approach, twelve (12) armed men were seen keeping watch in a tight group. LT Vandenberg ordered SSGT Crowe's fireteam to engage via grenades. The following action produced a total of eighteen hostiles KIA and six friendlies rescued from the slavers who had kept them imprisoned. One of the rescued included SGT Christopher Richards, CMC. They were evacuated via medevac Raptors to the Cerberus due to their poor condition. There were no CMC personnel wounded in this action.
