INCIDENT SUMMARY

As part of ongoing reconnaissance efforts, a raptor team consisting of myself and LT Leyla Aydin departed the Cerberus at approximately 2130 on 26 Oct 2014 AE aboard Harrier-307 bound for Canceron. Upon leaving fleet airspace, we began a series of jumps to take us to that destination by a roundabout course.

During our briefing, we were given a list of co-ordinates which required scanning, however, upon entering Canceron airspace, we immediately detected a strong Cylon force consisting of at least twenty-eight (28) Basestars and a minimum of one thousand (1,000) Raiders of both normal and heavy configuration. Repeat, a strong Cylon presence exists in the airspace above Canceron.

Analyzing the disposition of the energy fields and ESM capabilities of the Cylon fleet, we determined that we would be able to make a “dead stick” high orbit pass over the colony. To this end, all power to every system save life support, minimal thrusters, passive ESM and visual imaging gear.

FINDINGS

Our flight path took us over the northern hemisphere at an approximate altitude of 40,233.60 for a duration of approximately eighty-two (82) seconds. During this time, were were able to make thirty (30) clear images. All other sites beneath our fly-over were either obscured by clouds or at angles which made a discernible image impossible. Using the visual sensors during the fly-by, we determined that a serious of major industrial installations have been constructed beside every major mining facility along our trajectory.

Concluding our fly-over, we then coasted beneath the sensor horizon of the Cylon force, during which we recorded approximately one hundred fifteen (115) minutes of the Cylon force's maneuvers. These recordings, as well as all images obtained, have duly been placed into the care of Intelligence for further analysis.

CONCLUSIONS

A major Cylon force has occupied Canceron airspace. Further reconnaissance flights into this system should be conducted with extreme caution.

The Cylons appear to be harvesting vast quantities of Tylium from Canceron. Though the existence of further facilities at other mining sites is unproven, the possibility is consistent with logic. Canceron being the only source of Tylium within the Colonies, it is reasonable to assume that the Cylons would wish to avail themselves of as much of it as possible.
